I like esp how the authors do not skimp on the warts and faults both of de Kooning and the women he hung (lay) with, including Elaine (very ambitious for him) and Ruth (the hunter of big artists). I don&#039;t think Swan and Stevens would agree that de Kooning&#039;s work lost its edge after the alcohol; it certainly changed, and de K went through many phases. Yes, some critics thought he&#039;d lost his discipline in cubistic sketching and proportion, but who knows. What about your work? Phases? Influences?</description>
